Project: Stanwick Lakes Visitor Centre
Client: Rockingham Forest TrustS
Contract Value: £1,600,000
We designed a new Visitor Centre at Stanwick Lakes in Northamptonshire. Once a former gravel pit, the site now forms part of a major visitor attraction in the Nene Valley region. 600 acres have been restored and the site is regionally and nationally recognised for its wildfowl and populations of breeding birds.
To provide a key focal point to the lakes, we designed the Centre to give immediate visual impact and offer friendly, welcoming facilities to visitors.
Located on an existing peninsula, it projects out over one of the main lakes with the key viewing points and observation deck cantilevered over the water to bring people closer to this wetland environment.
